Zero Tolerance launched in 2006 as Kai USA's premium knife brand, built for military, law enforcement, and first responders. Every ZT is still made in Tualatin, Oregon, proudly overbuilt and finished like a custom. The newest arrivals carry that forward in CPM Cru-Wear and canvas Micarta, with the ZT 0316 linerlock running a black PVD clip point and the ZT 0512DL locking up on DuraLock with a working finish blade.
Blade steels stay in the premium tier, with CPM MagnaCut, 20CV, S45VN, S90V, M390, CPM M4, CPM 3V, and Cru-Wear across the lineup. Handles run solid titanium, 3D-machined G-10, canvas Micarta, and carbon fiber, and titanium frame locks get hardened steel lockbar inserts to resist wear over years of carry. KVT ball-bearing pivots drive the manual flippers, SpeedSafe fires the assisted models, and the 0044 button lock and 0203 DuraLock bring newer lock systems. ZT built its name on custom-maker partnerships. Rick Hinderer's influence lives in the 0562 Slicer, one of the most respected hard-use flippers in production. Dmitry Sinkevich designed the 0450 and the 0452 Large Sinkevich, slim EDC flippers. Tim Galyean shaped the 0022, and Jens Ansø designed the 0230 and 0235 slip joints. The 0350 family runs on SpeedSafe, the assisted opening system Ken Onion created for Kai.
